The average age of menarche among high school and midcal school students in shiraz in 1373

Abstract

Introduction:

The age in which the first minstural cycle starts , is called menarcheal age . it   should be considered that the menarcheal age is between 8 to 18 y/o. The average age of menarche is the subject matter for these research . In addition , various influential factors and their effects on menarcheal age such as socio – economic factors or , in the other word the working situation of parents and their educational status ,  location of habitant and race groups have been studied.


Method :

This research was done among the high school and middle school students in shiraz in 1373 . 2508 students between the age of 12 to 22 years old and 795  students mothers have been studied.


Results :

The average age of menarche among the girls was 13.05 ± 1.25 y/o , and among the students mothers was 13.49 ± 1.57 y/o.

With the respect to the comparison  that has been done between these two age groups ( the students and their mothers .) by p=0.01 , the subject was indicated that the menarcheal age was decreased in present generation.


Conclusion:

Furthermore , there was a  singnigicant relationship between the educational status of parents and the age of menarche, so that the  least menarcheal age was shown among the children with high parental education. However , there was no relationship between the age  of menarche with respect to race , different parents  jobs , sayed and non – sayed ( the descendent of  profit Mohammedan Pubs ) and different residential placed in the city .

It was observed that the most frequency of menarche was in summer and the least was in autumn.

The final results of these studies were the same with the other studies in other countries conversation
