Introduction:
Studying parasitic infections provides knowledge about contamination of environment and the types of parasites. It also provides a picture of health status of the individual and contamination of food and water supplies, as well as sewage disposal. Thus, the present study aimed to determinate the prevalence parasitic infections in kindergarten children in the city of Jahrom.
Materials and Methods:
This cross-sectional analytic study enrolled 451 kindergarten children selected by cluster sampling in the city of Jahrom in 2013. Data were collected using questionnaires. Parents were invited to the kindergarten for briefing and training about sampling method. Data were analyzed with SPSS16 software using descriptive statistics and of chi-square tests at α= 0.05 significance level.
Result:
Prevalence of parasitic infections was 7.1% in stool test, and 14.4% in formal-ether method. The prevalence of Giardia was 7.1%, Ascaris 0.9% and Hymenolpis Nana 0.2% and in the Scotch test. The prevalence of oxyoruria was 5.1%.
Conclusion:
The prevalence of Giardia infection in kindergarten children was higher than other parasites. Furthermore, due to the different amounts of parasitic infections in stool test, and formal-ether, it is recommended to use the higher-sensitivity formal-ether diagnostic method to detect these infections in children.

Introduction:
In recent decades, psychological aspects of veteran and disabled athletes have attracted researchers, happiness and mental toughness have not been studied simultaneously in veteran and disabled athletes. This study aimed to examine the relationship between happiness and mental toughness in veteran and disabled athletes.
Materials and Methods:
This This descriptive cross-sectional study recruited all 100 veteran and disabled athletes in Shiraz in 2016 through convenience sampling. They filled the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire by Argyle (1989) and Mental Toughness Questionnaire by Clough (2002). Data were analyzed using correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis in SPSS 18 at significance level of p<0.05.
Results:
The results of correlation coefficients showed significant relationships between happiness and the following variables: total score of mental strength (r = 0.453), challenge (r = 0.592), commitment (r = 0.230), emotional control (R = 0.258), confidence in ability (r = 0.497) and interpersonal trust (r = 0.228) subscales (p< 0.05). However, the correlation coefficient was insignificant between happiness and life control (r=0.184, p<0.05). Furthermore, the results showed that challenge (r2= 0.350) and ability confidence (r2= 0.450) predicted happiness.
Conclusion:
A positive and significant relationship between mental toughness and happiness and a high level of mental toughness and happiness in veteran and disabled athletes shows that physical activity may increase mental toughness and happiness, and generally mental health among veteran and disabled athletes.

Introduction: If the blood supply to a part of the brain gets disturbed and stopped, this part of the brain can not function normally. This condition is called stroke. The aim of this study was to examine the protective effect of 4-week aerobic training on cognitive impairment and motor dysfunction in male rats following cerebral ischemia. Materials and Methods: For this purpose, 27 adult male Wistar rats (weighing 230-260 g) were purchased and randomly divided into three groups: sham, iscehemia and exercise training +iscehemia groups. The rats in exercise group were trained to run on a treadmill 5 days a week for 4 weeks. Ischemia was induced by the occlusion of both common carotid arteries (CCA) for 20 min. The passive avoidance memory test was used to assess the memory impairments. Behavioral test including inclend plane was used to assess motor function. For data analysis, Kolmogroph-Smirnoff, one-way ANOVA and Scheffe post-hoc tests were used (p<0.05).
Results: Results showed that the exercise training significantly reduced the ischemia-induced disorder in the short-term memory in passive avoidance memory test (p= 0.0001). However, motor function of ischemic rats did not change significantly in the inclend plane test after exercise (p= 0.137).
Conclusion: In general, 4 weeks of aerobic training improved cognitive impairment in ischemic rats.

Background: Aging is multidimensional process that affiliated with deterioration of the neuromuscular function and major variations in hypertrophic hormones such as myogenin. Different exercise and nutrition interventions clue to decelerate the muscle wasting. So, the aim of this study is to assess serum myogenin changes of sedentary aged women in response to physical activity and protein supplementation.
Methods: The study was quasi-experimental designs and 24 aged subjects with the 70.32 ± 3.30 years old were chosen. Subjects were randomly divided into: control (n=8), physical activity-soy milk (n=8), and soy milk (n=8) and took part in exercise-diet intervention for 12 weeks (3 day/week). Anthropometrics, core body function, and myogenin levels were assess pre- and post-interventions. All data was analyzed by two way ANOVA and Bonferroni post-hoc on the p<0.05.
Findings: Myogenin levels of both physical activity-soy milk and soy milk groups significantly increased compare with control and pre-intervention (p<0.05). Also, core body function significantly improved in some items in only physical activity-soy milk group compare with control and pre-intervention (p<0.05). Anthropometric features of aged women did not significantly change in any groups (p>0.05).
Conclusion: Twelve weeks of exercise and nutrition interventions had similar effects on the myogenin elevation. Protein ingestion although couldn’t improve the elderly function in the current study, but we could anticipate that long-term myogenin elevation may improve muscle strength and function of elderly.

 <Abstract>
Background and aim: Due to the increase of bacterial resistance to common antibiotics, tendency towards using natural compounds with antimicrobial activity was increased. Mean while, many bacterial species show multi or pan-resistant phenotypes. Many of these multidrug resistant (MDR) bacteria can cause life-threatening infections, being a major concern both in the hospital and the community. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the antimicrobial properties of cyanobacteria Oscillatoria sp < span dir="RTL">.

Methods: The antimicrobial effect of cyanobacteria of Oscillatoria in concentrations of 50 mg/ml was investigated. The antimicrobial properties of cyanobacteria extract supernatant using in well diffusion agar was investigated. Moreover the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was performed against human pathogenic bacteria such as, S. aureus, B. subtilis, P. aeruginosa and E. coli.

Findings: We observed the highest antimicrobial activity against E. coli bacteria with inhibition zone a diameter of 24 mm and the lowest antibacterial effect against P.aeruginosa with inhibition zone a diameter 14mm. In addition, the minimum inhibitory concentration of Oscillatoria extract against E. coli and Pseudomonas was documented in 3/125 and 12/5 mg/mL respectively.

Conclusion: Our results indicated that the methanolic extract of Oscillatoria had the proper antimicrobial activity against human pathogens and this inhibiotion was dose-dependent.

Background and Objective: Diabetes is the most common endocrine disease that is associated with impaired glucose and lipid metabolism. Adiponectin is a specific protein secreted from adipose tissue that can affect diabetes progression. Considering the protective effects of crocin, as a potent anti-inflammatory and powerful antioxidant, the aim of this study was to determine the effect of crocin on serum levels of adiponectin, lipid profile and glucose in type one diabetic rat’s model.

Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 28 wistar male rats were allocated into 4 equal groups. Groups of control, diabetic control and two treated diabetic group with crocin (concentrations of 50 and 100 mg/kg). The diabetes in diabetic control and treated diabetic groups was induced using an intraperitoneal injection of alloxan. Crocin was intraperitoneally injected into treated diabetic groups for 25 days. Saline solution was injected to the animals of control and diabetic control groups. At the end of treatment period, the serum levels of adiponectin, LDL, HDL, triglyceride, total cholesterol and glucose was measured by ELISA.

Results: Compared to diabetic control group < /span>, serum levels of LDL, triglycerides, total cholesterol and glucose in diabetic groups treated with 50 and 100 mg/kg of crocin dose-dependent manner decreased, also adiponectin and HDL significantly increased (p<0.05).
Conclusion: Dose dependent administration of crocin by increases adiponectin and decreases blood glucose serum levels, plays a role in regulating lipid metabolism
