Intruduction: Guttate psoriasis is a disease characterized by round to oval shaped lesions with silvery or gray scales on an erythematous base and several millimeters to one centimeter in diameter . Its lesions are generalized , discrete and distributed predominantly on the trunk and proximal extremities and occasionally on face , ears , scalp and rarely on palms and soles.

The disease is predominantly seen in children and young adults. It seems that focal streptococcal infections have an effective role in the development of disease .This study was performed in order to determine the relationship of streptococcal infections and A.S.O titer prior to treatment .In 17 patients, throat culture was done and in all of patients the history of upper respiratory tract infection was questioned period. of illness, sex and age of the patients were recorded and the data were analyzed .

Method: During 2 years, we selected 22 patients with guttate psoriasis. All of them were biopsies and A.S.O titre prior to treatment .In 17 patients, throat culture was done and in all of patients the history of upper respiratory tract infection was questioned .Period of illness, sex and age of the patients were recorderd and the data were analyzed .

Results: Fourteen out of 22 cases (63.63%) had an A.S.O titer equal to grater than 250 TODD units prior to treatment .Eleven cases (50%) had a history of upper respiratory tract infection two weeks before illness.

Conclusion: It seems that streptococcal infections play an effective role in the development of disease. It is necessary that throat culture and A.S.O titer be checked in these patients and suitable antibiotics was prescribed

Introduction: H. pylori is microaerophilic, garm negative, spiral organism with 4-6 flagella. The bacterium is an etiologic agent for chronic gastritis and plays a major role in effecting peptic ulcer, gastric cancer, lymphoma. H. pylori infection has a high seroprevalence in Iran (> 90%). Thus diagnosis and treatment of H.pylori infection is very important.

Material and Methods : The presence of H. pylori infection was determined in 100 patients undergoing upper gastrointestinal endoscopy over 9 month period. The presence of H. pyolri was detcted in gastric mucosal biopsy specimens by Biopsy Urease Test, PCR and histopathology. A media was used for urease test, Normal Broth Urea. The biopsy is placed in a broth containing urea and a PH indicator. The goldstandard is histopathology examination. We designed a PCR for amplifying the H. pylori gene encoding ure C (294 bp).

Results : The results of urease test were 66.6% sensitivity and 69.7% specefity. The results of PCR assay were 98.6% sensitivity and 93% specifity. There was a significant difference between the specifity and sensitivity of urease test and PCR.

Conclusion : The result of This study showed that urease test was not a sensitive and specific method for accurate detection of the infection. It a level of the sensitivity is too low to be used as the sole method of detection in ordinary practic. In this situation other/ tests should be used.

Introduction: The aim of the present study was to measure the maximum of voluntary ventilation(MVV) in healthy students of Jahrom medical School and investigate the relationship between FEV1 with MVV.

Methods: One-hundred thirty-one healthy students (79 female and 52 male) aged between 18-24 years comprised the study sample. The FEV1 and MVV of the subjects were measured with a recording spirometer. The MVV was determined using the closed-circuit technique. The MVV assessed for 15 S and value were calculated obtain L/min. Linear regression analysis was used to develop equations to predict MVV with FEV1 as predictor variable.

Results : The mean MVV (± SD) in males was 106.5 ± 36.9 L/min and in females 71.97 ± 20.5 L/min. MVV in Jahrom students were less than those reported for some Asian countries. When MVV was regressed on FEV1 , The following predictive equations obtained:

MVV= 28.1 × FEV1 (female) , MVV= 28.95 × FEV1 (male)

Conclusions: MVV in Jahrom Medical School students were less than to those reported for some Asian countries. The MVV correlate closely with FEV1. We have also shown that by using predictor equations and FEV1 as predictor variable, MVV predict accurately

Abortion is one of the topics that is discussed from different points of view such as Islamic Law, Jurisprudence, and criminal law .If the fetus is at the sthtrimatn and remain in the uterus threatens mother's life, according to Islamic law and Jurisprudence, it should be removed from the uterus and taken care of in certain devices .In this case ,we deal with the phenomena of fetus transfer rather than abortion.

On the other hand ,if the fetus is still dependent on the mother and remains at an embryonic stage of development whether it has life or not , if it threatens the mother's life and one of them prefers to other, one of them should be selected. The Jurists believe that the one who is less likely to live on should be given the priority for the death choice, and if they have an equal chance to live on , one of them should be sacrificed on the basis of reasonable decision .Therefore , under this circumstance if the doctor or the mother performs abortion , he/she has not acted against Islamic law. Of course if the abortion is performed ,the due compensation should be paid if it is demanded by the family. But the present penal laws in our country ,and based on the article seventeen of medical disciplinary passed in 1348 which came into effect after the Guardian Council had made a change in it , allow abortion only when the mother is in danger and the fetus is inanimate. It holds true while the dynamic principles derived from Shiah Fegh have entirely made clear what measures both the mother and the doctor shoud take if the fetus is animat .It's hoped that law makers in our country will revise the laws related to abortion ,put an end to the confusion of those involved ,and therefore ,prevent some from types of unsafe and illegal methods

Abstract :

Introduction :Myelomeningocele is a congenital defect in posterior arch of vertebra with herniation of cord and meanings ,which presence of hydrocephalus with high precalence complicates its treatment . This study tries to determine the frequency of hydrocephalus associated with myelomeningocele(MMC) in different levels of spinal column.

Method: In a descriptive study during five years 1375-71childern under one year old with myelomeningocele admitted to Tabrize Medical Center of Imam Khomeini were followed for hydrocephalus .

Results: From ninety-five patients of MMC ,56.8% developed hydrocephalus (68.4% male, 31.5% female ). Prevalence of MMC in each level of spinal column was: Lumbar 60%, Lumbosacral 31.5%,Thorasic and cervical 4.2% equally .developed in sixty eight percent of lumbar MMC,48% of lumbosacral ,25% of cervical and 0% of thoracic.

Conclusion: More percentage of female gender with lumbosacral MMC developed hydrocephalus ,whereas in other level male gender more developed . Prevalence of hydrocephalus in this study was less than other studies .In contrast to other studies showed that our study lumbar and then lumbosacral MMC had more susceptibility to develop hydrocephalus.
