Introduction: The prevalence of BPH among 5-10 year old men is about 50% and it reaches 90% in 80 year old ones. The use of the components of citrus fruits containing a group of ritamines (specially C) , favonoid and atype of polysaccharides as pectin which are effective in treatment of hyperplasia , allergy and viral infection.

Material & methods: This is a clinical-trial study conducted on two groups, each with 30 samples (patients drinking 60 ml sour orange Juice/daily and those administering 1 prozacin tablet daily as used in classical treatment). Convenient sampling was performed for selection of patients in both groups. From the patients referring to the specialty clinic in Jahrom. The data were collected through a checklist consisting of two part of demographic information and AUA which measles the severity of prostatic symptoms. SPSS software was used to analyzed data.

Results: Comparison of the AUA mean scores before and after having citrus fruit revealed that the difference was significant (before: 25.833±0.823, after: 2.833±0.248, p=0.000) However, the same comparison for the control group < sub>,s mean scores before and after taking the above mentioned tablet revealed a non-significant difference (before: 26.666±0.717, after: 26.666±0.723, p=1.000). comparison of AUA mean scores of the case and control groups revealed that the difference was statistically significant (case group: 2.833±0.248 and control group: 26.666±0.723, p=0.000)

Conclusion: Considering the finding of this study, citrus fruit can be effective in reducing the symptoms of prostate hypertorophy .

Background: It is not clear what factors determine divergent outcomes of infections caused by H.pylori. The aim of this study was to differentiate H. pylori strains isolated from the patients with different gastroduodenal pathologies by protein profiling.

Material and methods: The protein profiles of different strains of H. pylori isolated from 3 groups of patients with ulcerative disease, nonulcerative gastritis and cancer disease were analyzed using 1D-SDS-PAGE.

Results: Based on the highly divergent protein patterns, the similarity of the strains inside each group was 75%, 76.47% and 78.57% for cancerous, ulcerative and no ulcerative groups, respectively, while about 30.76% of the protein bands were common in all strains isolated from three groups of the patients. Some of the observed bands were significantly specific for each group. We speculated that some H. pylori strains might be more associated with a specific disease than others, leading to the clustering of some, but not all, strains within each disease group.

Conclusion: This study showed that protein profile can be a criterion used for discriminating of dominant states in different gastric clinical states. Specific and dominant proteins of different strains isolated from three groups of patients under the study could be welcome candidates for further exploration to be used both for laboratory tests, which analyze disease-specific H. pylori strains, and for diagnosis of different diseases and outcomes associated with this widespread bacterium.

Introduction: Nowadays E.coli the most common Cause of acute urinary tract in fection are generally named based on serotypes of O and H . The aim of this Cross-Sectional study, was to determine the prevalence of H serogroups of E. coli strains that cause community acquired UTI in children. Methods and materials: In this study 96 children with urinary tract infections (UTI) referred to two teaching Hospitals, in Jahrom, Iran during the period of August 2005- August 2006 were enrolled. Antibiogram was done by disk diffusion method and serotyping by tube and slide agglutination methods. Results:A Total of 96 E. coli strains were isolated from the urine samples of children with UTI aged from one month to 14 years. Cystitis was diagnosed in 49.2% and pyelonephritis in 50.8% of these patients. The most resistance was related to Ampicilin (80.2%) and the least to imipenem (1.1%). The most common type of H antigen was H4 (6.1%). Conclusion: This is the first report of E-coli serotying in children with UTI from the south of Iran and its relation ship with antibiotic resistance and clinical presentation. Funthen reoeach in athes p ts with move st e thypes is re Commended.

History and objectives: Low birth weight is associated with high mortality , morbidity and rates of admission among neonates. The aim of this study was to determine the causes of admission and outcome of Low birth weight infants (LBW) admitted in Beheshti Hospital.

Materials and Methods: In this cross sectional descriptive study, all the LBW infants admitted in Beheshti Hospital during a one year period (1384) were investigated. All the data were collected from the medical records and analyzed by descriptive statistics.

Results : Of the 408 admitted neonates, one hundred and thirty six newborns were low of birth weight. Of whom 54.1% were male, 81.9% preterm and 18.1% intrauterine growth restricted (IUGR).the Mean gestational age in LBW infants, was 33.6±3.2 weeks and mean birth weight was 1845± 392 and 2042± 320 gr in preterm and IUGR infants respectively . The most common morbidities in LBW infants were sepsis, jaundice , hyaline membrane disease , anemia, hypocalcemia and hypoglycemia .The mean hospital stay was 14±9 days. The mortality rate in LBWs was 23.3% mainly in gestational age of less than 28 weeks and birth weight of < 1000 gr.

Conclusion: Considering the causes of admission in LBW infants and also prematurity as the main cause of low birth weight and mortality , we recommend prevention of preterm deliveries and improving the intensive care facilities

Introduction: One of the main reasons of the occuranle of intestinal parasitic infections in Communities is the asymptomatic infections in some people. Although there are some reports for parasitic infections from specialized laboratories, there is no confirmed data for these infections among children in Jahrom. It is due to low standards of the methods and also low accuracy in epidemiological studies.

Material and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out on 410 children aged 7-15 years old in Jahrom. clustering and accidental sampling were employed. Three samples of faecese for each child were examined for parasites using formalin – ether concentration method.

Results: The results showed a prevalence of 13.6% of intestinal parasitic infections among children in Jahrom. Among which, 9.3% were pathogen parasites. The highest prevalence was reported for Giardia lamblia (8.1%). There was an association between the rate of infection and mother,s education, family income and the family size. The lowest infection was found among the children whose mothers had clerical Jobs.

Conclusion: Although this study indicated low prevalence of intestinal parasitic infections among children in Jahrom, the prevalence of some of them is still high and important. This is a good reason for paying more attention on individual and environmental health such as rubbish despair , using clean and safe vegetables and fruits, and also frequent use of soap < /p>

Introduction: There are differences between the recognition of service providers about the importance of dimensions of services، and its real importance asviewed by service receivers. This leads to planning and decision making on quality promotion in which the views of providers are more effective than those of the customers. In such circumstances, the quality of services is reduced in the customer,s viewpoint. This research aims to compare the importance of dimensions of educational service in the faculty members, and the students' viewpoints.

Material: This cross-sectional descriptive research was performed in 2004 in Zahedan University of Medical Sciences. All the faculty members and 386 students were chosen as the research subjects. A questionnaire was used for data collection. For statistic analysis، descriptive and analytic statistics were employed.

Results: Empathy was the most important dimension from students' viewpoint which was ranked as the 4th factor in faculty members' view. The faculty members declared the most important dimension to be assurance that was ranked the third in students' viewpoint.

Conclusion: There is no dimension with the same rank among different dimensions of educational services between the students and faculty members. This leads the faculty members to advert dimensions which are less important in students' view، so this affects the quality of services from students' viewpoint. Therefore، should be taken in to account these differences in programming and resource allocation in order to improve the services provided, which is so important from the students' view.

Moreoues it seems neceas ary to desclibe the char a ctuistics of sewices to the students and identify at sow : cesale and what to expect from them. Moreover, it seems necessary to describe the characteristics of sew ices to the students and identify what sew ices are and what to expect from them.
