Background: Asparagus with high antioxidant properties that could be an effective alternative to chemical drugs. This study aims to investigate the effect of aqueous extract of asparagus on serum level of progesterone and LH hormones in the female rats. Materials and Methods: This experimental study was conducted on 40 adult female Wistar rats. The rats were randomly divided into 5 groups of 8 each, including the control group, the sham group and the three experimental groups receiving of 100,200 and 400 mg/kg aqueous extract of asparagus. All the administration was done by gavage for 28 days. At the end of the experimental term, phlebotomizing the hearts of the animals was performed and LH and progesterone levels were measured. Data were analyzed using ANOVA statistical test. Findings: The mean concentration of LH in the experimental group 400 mg/kg dose of asparagus extract and the mean serum level of progesterone in three experimental groups receiving asparagus extract showed a significant increase compared to the control group (p < 0/05). Conclusion: Amino acid, saponin and steroidal compounds in aqueous extract of asparagus, probably caused to stimulate the secretion of LH and progesterone hormones.

Introduction: cardiovascular diseases are one of the main causes of death in the world. Origin-background of cardiovascular disease goes back to childhood and adolescence. High levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C), triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol (TC), the ratio of TG/ HDL-C and low levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C) are considered the main factors in posing a risk. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of aerobic exercise on lipid profile in obese adolescents in order to prevent cardiovascular diseases. Methodology: This study was semi-experimental that was applied on 22 non-athlete obese adolescent girls. Subjects were randomly divided into 2 groups experimental (n = 11) and control (n = 11). The experimental group training period was eight weeks, three days a week for 25 to 60 minutes aerobic exercise daily. Lipid profile, body weight and body mass index in the 24 hours before the start of the first training and 24 hours after the last training session in both groups were measured. Results: The Result of Paired-Samples t-test showed that, levels of low-density lipoprotein, triglycerides, total cholesterol, ratio triglycerides/ high-density lipoprotein, weight and body mass index Percentage in the experimental group had significantly decreased. But the levels of high-density lipoprotein increased non-significantly. Conclusion: The results showed that the rhythmic aerobic exercise in obese adolescent girls causes cholesterol transport process increase reversely and improve blood lipid profiles that can be mentioned as a preventive intervention for cardiovascular disease in childhood and adolescence.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease in which the outbreak of this disease has been increased during recent years in the world. Middle East, however, is located in the low risk zone of MS, the outbreaks of this disease has significantly increased over the past few years. Iran is one of the Middle East countries with a middle to high prevalence of multiple sclerosis but so far has not identified the cause of this increasing. This study is an overview of the possible factors that could have caused this increase in Iran. Method: In this study the possible factors affecting the prevalence of MS in Iran was evaluated. Results: the most important factors that seems play a role in the increased prevalence of MS included lifestyle changes, increase urbanization and smoking. Conclusion: Although the mentioned factors can be nominated as the factors of this sudden increase in the prevalence of multiple sclerosis in Iran, these factors cannot be considered definitive factor and further studies are needed to confirm these factors.

Abstract Background and aims:Hypophysis or pituitary gland is an endocrine gland.indeed it is an outpouching from hypothalamus to skull base with about 0.5 gram weight. Size of pituitary gland is not equal in different sexes and age groups.so measuring of normal pituitary gland is usefull in determination of it’s pathology.to our knowledge, no report about measurements of pituitary gland in normal population of Iran has been published by now. Undoubtedly magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the optimal imaging technique for evaluating the pituitary gland. The aim of this study was measuring of height and antero-posterior diameter of normal pituitary gland in Kerman. Method:in this cross sectional study119 healthy subjectswithout sellar or parasellar disease or surgery and without history of corticosteroid or prolactin affecting drugs consumption, which refered to Fatemeh Zahra imaging center of kerman were selected by non probable convenience method.then height and antero-posterior diameter of pituitary was measured by mid-sagittal T1 sequence MRI.datas were analyzed using spss19, ANOVA and independent t test. Results:mean height of pituitary gland in femalesubjects(5.72±1.21milimeter)was more than males(5.65±1.28 milimeter)with P value equal to 0.7. Evaluation of age groups showed decrease of pituitary height in females by increasing age. pituitary height was significantly higher in 15-20years old group(p=0.005).there was no significant difference in pituitary height in male age groups (P= 0.37). The anteroposterior diameter in females was 9.96±1.44 and in males was 10.02±1.18 milimeter that showed no significant difference (P=0.8). The shape of pituitary gland was flat in more than 50% of cases, the others were concave or convex. Conclusion:this normal measurments could be used as a reference for evaluation of pituitary gland in patients. Key words:Hypophysis, normal,Kerman,Iran, magnetic resonance imaging

The effect of paracetamol on the level of drug use during and after orthopedic surgery of the upper limb Introduction: Paracetamol is a pre-acetaminophen drug that has been administered for analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. In addition to having analgesic properties, it is associated with fewer complications. The aim of this study is to evaluate the analgesic effect of paracetamol for pain relief during and after surgery of the upper limb.

Materials and methods: The present study, double-blind and trial Randomized controlled, was performed on 44 patients from 15 to 55 years old, all with ASA1 and candidates of the upper extremity orthopedic surgery. The method of anesthesia was the same in all patients, and 22 patients were divided randomly into two equal 22-member groups. The first group received 15 mg kg paracetamol and the second group was the control group that did not receive any medication.

Findings: According to Kolmogorov-Smirnov test on the distribution data, the pain before surgery was normal (p-value <0.05,), while was not normal after surgery (p-value <0.05). The results of Mann-Whitney test (Mann-Whitney Test) showed that the average drug consumption between the two groups during the whole study had no significant difference (P-value> 0.05).
Conclusions: Paracetamol is not enough to reduce severe pain after orthopedic surgery of the upper limb. However, its analgesic effect brings out a 40 percent drop in drug use 1 hour after the end of surgery so, paracetamol can be used as an aid to reduce pain.

Background: Reproductive problem is one of the most complex issues in medicine. In traditional medicine, the herbal drugs are used to treat infertility. This study aims to investigate the effect of aqueous extract of Salep on the serum levels of FSH and estrogen hormones in the female rats. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 40 adult female Wistar rats were selected and randomly divided into 5 groups: control (no drug), sham (which received 1 ml distilled water), the experimental group 1 (recipient of 20 mg / kg aqueous extract of Salep), the experimental group 2 (recipient of 40 mg / kg aqueous extract of Salep) and experimental group 3 (recipient of 80 mg / kg aqueous extract of Salep). In the experimental groups the extract was injected intraperitoneally for 28 days. At the end of the experimental term, the mice were bled to examine the serum level of the FSH and estrogen hormones (p<0.05). Findings: Injecting the aqueous extract of Salep caused a significant increase in the serum level of FSH and estrogen hormones compared to control group (p <0.05). Conclusion: The aqueous extract of Salep can play a positive role in the process of ovulation in females, through increasing the serum levels of FSH and estrogen hormones. Key Word : Salep, Estrogen, FSH, Female Rats.

Background & Objective: Cryptosporidium is the protozoans coccidian and important cause diarrhea in humans, especially children and animals. Although reports of outbreaks of Cryptosporidium infection are available in several parts of Iran But the parasite is not examined in Parasitology usual tests. Therefore, the study performed with the aim of frequency determination of Cryptosporidium infection in children with diarrhea in Jahrom city for the first time. Materials & Methods: In this study, a total of 106 stool specimens from children under 12 years with diarrhea that referred to Jahrom laboratory centers were examined to determine Cryptosporidium infection in during 1393. On beginning, samples was concentrated with Formol-ether method and after staining with modified acid fast method, were studied microscopically. Results: In this study, 2 children (1/9%) were diagnosed with Cryptosporidiosis. The case was a 1-year-old boy and The second case related to a 3-year-old girl. There were not a significant relationship between the infection rate of Cryptosporidiosis and age, sex, using of breast milk in children under 2 years, geolocation and drinking water. Conclusion: Percentage of very low contamination with this parasite in children with diarrhea in Jahrom city stating that this parasite does not count as a public health problem in the region yet.

Introduction: Purposes and background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer among the women, 1 out of 8 women is affected by that.in case of early detection, less invasive treatments are available and also patients’ quality of life will be improved .So, we decided to analyze the prevalence of focal asymmetric density in screening mammography and sonography findings among a group of women in community. Methods and materials: This study is cross-sectional and all the women who referred to BESAT clinic in Kerman city between 23.9.2013 to 23.9.2014 for performing screening mammography were entered into the study. Of the total 900 women referred to Besat clinic, 105 women have focal asymmetric density. After sonography and easy non-random sample collection, sonography compared with mammography. Findings: people’s average age was 44±7.3 with minimum age of 29 and maximum age of 61.in sonography findings, 30 (6.28%) cases had no lesion, 2 cases (1.9 Percent) had malignancies and 73 (69.5%) cases had benign lesions.in the last group, 52 cases (49.9%) had lesions in right breast, 50 cases (47.6%) had lesions in left breast and 2 cases had bilateral breast lesions. Conclusion:Imaging techniques with clinical examinations are recommended for screening of the breast cancer. But with regard to limitations of sonography and mammography in diagnosis of breast cancer, in case of being highly suspicious to malignancy, biopsy should also be done. Keywords: Breast cancer, mammography, Sonography
