The Effect of Eight Weeks Pilates Exercises on Pain and Quality of Life in Patients with Spondylolysis

Introduction: Spondylolysis the fault is a one- sided and non-slide that usually involved the fourth and fifth-lower lumbar and due to instability, it can lead to pain and lower quality of life in patients, so the aim of this study was to examine the effect of eight weeks Pilates exercise on pain and quality of life in patients with spondylolysis
Materials and Methods: Fourteen women with spondylolysis by spine's neuropsychologist diagnosis were selected, and equally were randomly divided in to two group of experimental group (mean ± SD: 38.8±8.5 years, height 161.2 ± 6.9 cm, weight 69 ± 8.7 kg), and control group (mean ± SD: 38.4±8.7 years, height 165 ± 5.2 cm, weight of 65.8± 6.8 kg). Experimental group for eight weeks, three sessions in a week, and each session 60 minutes, performed selected pilates exercises, but during these time control group did not participate in any treatment activity and performed normal daily activities. pain (Visual Analog Scale), and quality of life (quality of Life Questionnaire SF-36), of samples were evaluated before and after eight week training. For data analysis among groups were used variance analysis model with duplicate size, Manwithney and Wilcoxon statistic (P<0.05).
